The weight of this length tube is approximately 28.56kg.
It is 6400 millimetres long or 6.4 metres.
The longest length of galvanised steel scaffolding tube available is 21ft.
This product has a standard diameter of 48.3 millimetres.
These 6.4-metre poles are mainly used as vertical upright tubes, horizontal ledgers, toppers and handrails when building a scaffold. However, they can also be used to make skate ramps, handrails for staircases and walkways, flag poles, gym frames, cricket cages, frames for industrial-style furniture, clothes rails, bike and canoe racks, and much more.
The weight of a 21ft or 6.4-metre length is approximately 28.56 kilograms, which works out at around 35 poles to make a tonne. Please be aware this is just a guide.
A ledger is a pole that runs horizontally across a scaffold’s framework and is used to support the platform. The ledger is typically connected to the transoms and upright standards.
They can also be known as poles, pipes, 21’s, longuns, standards, and uprights.
Galvanised metal tubing is made specifically to take on heavy loads and withstand a lot of pressure. The ultimate tensile strength of a 21ft pole is approximately 410N/mm2.
All scaffolding poles are connected using fittings, including single, double and swivel couplers. There are also other fittings that join the tubes at either end, called sleeves & joint pins. To attach 21ft lengths, you can use doubles, singles, swivels, joint pins or sleeves, depending on the structure you are trying to build.
Transoms and ledgers are both used in a horizontal position but have different uses. A transom is fixed on top of the ledger for scaffold boards to sit on, which creates a working platform. A ledger is a tubing that runs across the entire length of a scaffold horizontally and is fixed to the vertical upright tubes holding them in place.
Yes, you can cut the tube to size using a disc cutter with a blade that cuts through metal. Sparks may fly when doing this, so please wear the correct PPE.
Scaffolders call this a traditional scaffold, where steel tubes and fittings are used to create working-at-height platforms. Other scaffolding systems are available, but we mainly sell traditional steel products.
Yes, although we typically sell these as individual tubes rather than in bundles, if you order 60+, they will arrive in bundles of 60.
